    "instructions": "Connect with your **Sprout Payroll (PR) API** credential pair — NOT the HR API pair. Sprout issues two separate credential pairs when granting API access: an **HR API** pair (long 64-character hex strings, used by the Sprout HR/Employee/Time & Attendance plugins) and a **PR API** pair (a short client id that matches your payroll company code, plus a secret). Only the PR pair works here — the HR pair is rejected with `invalid_client`.\n\n1. Request API access from the **Sprout Developer Portal** (Getting Started → Authorization).\n2. From the credentials Sprout sends, copy the **PR API** Client ID and Client Secret below.\n3. Sprout credentials belong to exactly one environment: a sandbox subscription key is rejected by the production gateway (HTTP 401 \"invalid subscription key\") and vice versa. If Sprout pointed you at api-docs-**sandbox**.sprout.ph, your credentials are sandbox credentials.\n\nWe exchange your credentials for a short-lived token automatically — you never paste a bearer token.",
