copilot-extension-builder

v0.4.0

Interview-driven builder for Copilot agents, skills, and plugins across GitHub Copilot CLI/VS Code, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Cowork, and Copilot Studio. Helps you decide agent vs plugin vs skill, scaffolds the gaps it owns (GitHub CLI plugin packaging and Cowork), routes to your installed toolkits for the rest, and keeps its own knowledge current from Microsoft Learn and GitHub docs.

Included Skills4

build-cli-pluginskills/build-cli-plugin/SKILL.md

Use when you want to scaffold, build, or package a GitHub Copilot CLI or VS Code plugin (a plugin.json package). Bundles agents, skills, hooks, and MCP servers into one installable, distributable unit, and can add a marketplace.json catalog. USE FOR: build a plugin, scaffold plugin.json, package my agent/skill, GitHub Copilot CLI plugin, VS Code agent plugin, plugin marketplace, install a local plugin, bundle skills and agents. DO NOT USE FOR: authoring a single standalone agent/skill/instruction/prompt/hook (route to agent-customization); M365/Cowork/Studio plugins.

build-coworkskills/build-cowork/SKILL.md

Use when you want to create or scaffold a Microsoft Copilot Cowork skill or plugin — content you add under Cowork's Customize page (or upload as a package) to teach Cowork new domain expertise or connect it to services. USE FOR: Cowork skill, Cowork plugin, extend Copilot Cowork, upload Cowork package, MOS package, M365 app package for Cowork, SKILL.md, agentSkills, agentConnectors, Cowork Customize, when-to-use description. DO NOT USE FOR: GitHub Copilot CLI/VS Code plugins (use build-cli-plugin); M365 Copilot declarative agents/plugins (route to M365 skills).

copilot-extension-builderskills/copilot-extension-builder/SKILL.md

Use when you want to create, build, or scaffold a Copilot agent, skill, or plugin and may be unsure which one to build or for which surface. Runs a short interview to settle 'agent vs plugin vs skill', picks the right host (GitHub Copilot CLI/VS Code, Microsoft 365 Copilot, Copilot Cowork, Copilot Studio, or Azure AI Foundry), then scaffolds the result or hands off to the right installed skill. USE FOR: build a plugin, create an agent, make a skill, new Copilot extension, scaffold a plugin, Cowork plugin, M365 Copilot plugin, declarative agent, MCP plugin, REST/OpenAPI plugin, GitHub Copilot CLI plugin, 'what should I build', 'agent or plugin', package my agent/skill for sharing. DO NOT USE FOR: general coding questions; running an already-built agent.

sync-knowledgeskills/sync-knowledge/SKILL.md

Use when you want to check for or apply updates to this builder's knowledge, refresh it from Microsoft Learn / GitHub docs, run a freshness check, or self-heal stale references and templates. Compares pinned doc sources against their last-known state, auto-applies low-risk changes, proposes high-risk ones, and logs everything to CHANGELOG.md. USE FOR: check for updates, sync knowledge, refresh docs, update sources, self-update, freshness check, 'is this current', re-check Learn docs. Triggered by the router's freshness gate or invoked directly ('check now').
